  I love all things antique and etched! The photos do not do this set justice...
  
  A lovely pair of creamer and sugar, hand-etched glass with a sterling silver base. Notice the grace of the hand-blown handles on both pieces, the etched design is especially detailed and lovely, as well. Schooled craftsmen sat at grinding wheels to etch out these designs, each piece carefully wrought.
  
  The Whiting name is venerable. The company began in 1896 and continued until 1926 when it was purchased by Gorham. You can tell its age by the quality of the craftsmanship.
  
  I love giving pieces like these to brides-to-be with a note about the history of the pieces and a bit of wonder regarding the women who owned them...What a lovely Saturday morning coffee bit of luxury...beautiful piece!

  The pitcher: Height 3.5” x Width 4” including handle.
  
  The sugar bowl: Height 3.5” x Width 5 3/4”
  
  Markings: Sterling; Wallace hallmark
  
  Commensurate with age, the condition excellent.
  
  Since the base is solid silver, you don't have to worry about the finish wearing off with use. A simple polish removes any accumulating tarnish. (I prefer Hagerty Silversmith's wash with a tarnish preventative. Avoid using silver dips; they'll remove the lovely patina that gathers in the crevices to enhance the detail of these pieces.)
