• Details
  We love coastal vacations. I have often looked for jewelry to commemorate those special trips, not finding anything equal to the loveliness of the experience. Now I have it.
  
  You have the option of one sterling silver starfish or two opal starfish bound in rose gold vermeil. (Vermeil is sterling silver coated with 14 karat gold. It's a long lasting, beautiful finish that seems to be harder and harder to find.) The price difference between the two rose gold pieces reflects both the size differences between the stars, and the heft of the chains that I've selected. You will notice a difference in the construction of the starfish. The opals in the larger pendant are separated by vermeil or sterling segments, while not so in the tinier stars.
  
  The larger white starfish: 7/8 inch x 1 inch, no bale; marked 925; lovely white lab opals
  The smaller white starfish: 5/8 inch x 1 inch (including the bale); marked 925; lovely white lab opals
  The blue starfish: 1inch x 3/4 inch, no bale; marked 925; lovely blue lab opals
  
  The chains:
  for silver starfish: beautifully silky sterling box chain, .8mm
  for rose gold starfish: highly reflective flat cable chain, 1.3mm

  *As a point of information, always seek gold filled over gold plated jewelry. Gold filled items are legally required to have a heavier coating of 14K gold, 5% or 1/20 gold by weight, typically bonded over another material, in our case jeweler's brass, which is 90% copper and 10% zinc, both safe metals. Gold filled items stand the test of time; gold plated items will not endure. I have gold filled filigreed hoops from my teens that my daughters and I still wear!
