These are the tiniest of the garnet crosses that I have. Sometimes you just want something very small. I love wearing these daily, and also love giving them to cherished friends or little ones on special occasions. Dark, highly reflective stones... Beautiful and lustrous creations with openings to the back that enhances the sparkle. These crosses come to us from the garnet mines in the Czech Republic, from a revered company called Granát. (A note: Sometimes I don't want the larger bail that comes with these crosses, but prefer a simple oval ring to attach the cross to the chain. If you prefer that look, too, just add a note in your order, and I'll make that change for you.)
Having recently returned from a European trip, I bring you these pieces from the original garnet mines of Czechoslovakia. Turn-of-the-century pieces were also made of garnets mined there. These gilded sterling silver garnet crosses are identical to treasured antique garnet necklaces of days gone by... lovely crosses with dark, reflective, faceted garnets. As seen in the photos, the vermeil (which is 14K gold over sterling silver) is much brighter in these new pieces. Each comes to you with a certificate of authenticity.
I always enjoy knowing the story behind the pieces that I love. Granát is a cooperative in Turnov, a small town founded in 1272 right in the heart of what is called the Bohemian Paradise. The co-op was formed 66 years ago when a number of smaller goldsmith shops combined to form a single entity. They now have sole propriety over all garnets mined in the Czech Republic. I love their work and love wearing their pieces.
The crosses are beautiful and unique, becoming heirloom pieces for generations. The Bohemian garnets are faceted; the back is open in spots to encourage reflection in each but the tiniest. (You can wear my tiniest cross both ways, either showing the golden back side or the garnets on front.)
The camera doesn’t ever catch the magnificence of garnets, dark and lustrous, catching the light in such a beautiful way. So lovely.
I have these offered with a discount on my personal Etsy page. Contact me for that link.
You will see a final image of a pearl added to the cross. I can add that bit of whimsy to each of these if you’d like. See the link below if you'd like to see all of the crosses in my collection.
