  A lovely antique 14k Gold Filled locket, beautiful for its age. This is a prime example, beautifully designed and elegant in its simplicity. The front is etched in a classic antique design, embellished with vertical striping flourishes. Made by B.A. Ballou (BAB), the company was founded in the 1890s and is still in operation today. The trademark seen here was first used by the company in 1904, I estimate this piece circa 1920- 1930s due to the design.
  
  You will see reflections in every image. Try to ignore them. This is a lovely antique locket in remarkably good condition.
  
  Like other gold filled pieces, this one has stood the test of time. Truly beautiful​. I can add photos for you if you’d like. Some images reveal a cultured pearl that I can add if you like that bit of whimsy... The gold fill on this locket is twice as hardy as most of this period. Most are marked 1/20 14K GF; this piece is 1/10 14K GF.
  
  The locket: 1 3/4” long including bail, 13/16” wide.

  Stays securely closed. Minimal surface scratches commensurate with age.
  
  The chain:
  1.3 mm flat cable Italian chain, 14K gold filled, highly reflective. You select the length. This is a custom chain, so you can select any length you choose.

  ~ As a point of information, always seek gold filled jewelry over gold plated pieces. Gold filled items are legally required to have a heavier coating of 14K gold, 10% or 1/10 gold by weight, typically bonded over another material, in our case jeweler's brass, which is 90% copper and 10% zinc, both safe metals. Gold filled items stand the test of time; gold plated items will not endure.
