  Gorgeous German 800 Silver Ornate Server...This lovely server is an ornate, with rose floral accents, hallmarked AMD .800 for Adam Manns & Sohn Silberwarenfabrik of Germany. I love giving pieces like this one as a wedding gift before the ceremony, allowing it's use for serving that cream for coffee.
  
  Is it a gravy server? Shaped like a scuttle, it can be used for cream for a crowd or gravy for a special meal. It's so lovely.
  
  Beautiful condition with surface wear consistent with age. You will notice the roses on the handle and throughout the piece, along with classic swirls and patterns loved by this period . The story of the Hildesheim Rose, after which this piece is patterned, delights me. The oldest known rose alive today, it has withstood wars and time.   The server measures about 5 1/4" long and about 2 3/8" at the wide. It weighs a hefty 122 grams, and is marked 800 AMD; the classic scythe and crown of Germany, and Handerbeit, which means hand-crafted.
  
  I have estimated the age, as this piece is similar to others I own from this period.
  
  A word of caution...many sellers advertise these pieces as 800 silver when they are silver plate. Be sure that you can see the mark.
  
  Since it's solid 800 silver, you don't have to worry about the finish wearing off with use. A simple polish removes any accumulating tarnish. (I prefer Hagerty Silversmith's wash with a tarnish preventative. Avoid using silver dips; they'll remove the lovely patina that gathers in the crevices to enhance the detail of these pieces.)
  
  No monogram.
  
  Commensurate with age, the condition is very good to excellent.
