DetailsLarge and lovely unmarked tongs or pastry scissors..Antique pastry / sandwich / serving tongs. These are hardy.
This server is in good estate condition with fine soft age acquired rich patina. I can find no markings, so I suspect them to be silver plated rather than the typical 800 or 835 silver from Europe. There are no inscriptions or removals.
This origin of this sweet piece is unknown. It reflects the old world style of the great German craftsmen at the turn of the century. I would use these serving fish, steaks, or turkey...expect these to be a great conversation piece for those holiday meals!
The tongs:
Unmarked
Length: 8 3/4 inches
Width: 2 3/4 inches at the widest point of the paddles
Weight: 167 grams...quite the heft!
The paddles:
2 3/4 inches wide x 3.5 inches long from tip to handle
The scissors:
Open to 2 3/4 inches at the finger holes and 2 1/4 at the paddles
No monogram.
Commensurate with age, the condition is good.
A simple polish removes any accumulating tarnish. (I prefer Hagerty Silversmith's wash with a tarnish preventative. Avoid using silver dips; they'll remove the lovely patina that gathers in the crevices to enhance the detail of these pieces.)
