Walking around Italy you see angels upon angels. These are classic Italian pieces and are just lovely. Beautiful antique Italian forks and spoon with their classic cherub accent at the tip of the handles. The cherub is holding a fish, in celebration of a good catch, good food.

    The two pronged fork:
Topped with the classic putti, a great gift on an appetizer hostess tray for the holidays. Circa 1900
    Dimensions: 3 3/4” long x 1/2”
    Weight: 6 grams
    Markings: 800

    The larger two pronged fork:
Topped with the classic putti, more ornate tines. Circa 1900
    Dimensions: 4 3/8” long x 1/2”
    Weight: 10 grams
    Markings: 800

    The three pronged fork:
Note as you travel from the fork to the handle, there is a hand-crafted putti face just below the stem, and then, again, just below the cherub. Sweet and unique. Circa 1900.
    Dimensions: 5” long x 5/8"
    Weight: 13 grams
Markings: 800 stamped on the inside of the scoop, along with an obscured city hallmark.

    The spoon:
Similar in construction, but less ornate. Also marked by the sweet cherub holding its catch. Similarly dated.
    Dimensions: 3 3/4” x 1/2”
    Weight: 6 grams
    Markings: 800 inside the bowl

I have guessed at the age, as this piece is similar to others I own from this period. Each piece is stamped 800 but lacks other identifiable marks, also typical of Italian pieces of this age.

A word of caution..sometimes sellers advertise these pieces as 800 silver when they are silver plate. Be sure that you can see the mark.

Free of dings and dents; no monogram.

Commensurate with age, the condition is very good to excellent.

Since it's solid 800 silver, you don't have to worry about the finish wearing off with use. A simple polish removes any accumulating tarnish. (I prefer Hagerty Silversmith's wash with a tarnish preventative. Avoid using silver dips; they'll remove the lovely patina that gathers in the crevices to enhance the detail of these pieces.)
