August Betz and Albert Bodamer Antique German Salt Cellar ~ Swan Salt Cellar ~ Crystal Salt Cellar ~ 835 silver

$22.99

  • Details
August Betz (AB) created one of these sweet pieces in the early 1930s in a town called Schwäbisch Gmünd in Germany. Not much is known about Betz except that his work is lovely and old world. One of the cupid salt spoons/shovels is also signed AB from Germany.

One of the swans is marked Albo, and is a mid-century piece made by Albert Bodemer, of Ellmendingen-Keltern, Germany. His old world craftsmanship was learned at the side of older German craftsmen, and bespeaks that well trained eye for precision and detail. Lovely. One of the cupid salt spoons/shovels is also signed Albo.

I have a swan given me by a friend that regularly delights my guests. The swan wings open giving easy access to the double compartments hidden beneath.

These sweet swan salt cellars are a delightful addition to any table or decor. The wings open to hold varying things...delightfully. Since there are two compartments, you can easily add both salt and pepper, or different flavored salts, all to your guest's delight!

    The individual Betz salt:
    Height: 3 1/8 inches x 3 1/8 inches
    Weight: 93 grams
    Markings: 835 AB

    The individual Bodamer salt:
    Height: 2 7/8 inches x 2 7/8 inches
    Weight: 88 grams
    Markings: 835 Albo

The salt spoon: (Two different options if you'd like to add this.)
A reproduction in sterling silver (925/1000 silver) with a fleur-de-lis design
An antique salt spoon, again by Betz, with a cherub design

Free of dings and dents; no monograms; no chips.

Commensurate with age, the condition is excellent.
