DetailsA lovely 800 Silver Serving Spoon by M.H. Wilkens & Sohne. This piece is an example of the Art Nouveau patterns of the day, sweetly detailed. Notice the relief on the bowl of the spoon and the detail on the handle-both sides! Just lovely. The Germans may have used this type of spoon for mayo, mustard, jellies and jams in those amazing breakfasts for which they're known.

A word of caution...some sellers advertise these pieces as 800 silver when they are silver plate. Be sure that you can see the mark.
Since it's solid 800 silver, the German standard, you don't have to worry about the finish wearing off with use. A simple polish removes any accumulating tarnish. (I prefer Hagerty Silversmith's wash with a tarnish preventative. Avoid using silver dips; they'll remove the lovely patina that gathers in the crevices to enhance the detail of these pieces.)
Commensurate with age, the condition is very good to excellent.
