I just love some silver patterns more than others. The craftsmanship of S. Kirk and Sons in these patterns is just exquisitely detailed. I like to think about the families, particularly the women, whom these sweet pieces first served...

    S. Kirk and Son, one of America's oldest silversmiths, often called "America's silversmith" created these beautiful cake/pie server, large, dating between 1924 and 1940.

The first server is crafted in the Repoussé pattern, a classic. This server has a stainless blade, something to be sought, as silver plated blades of the oldest silver often wear badly. This is a great gift for new brides-to-be...something I love to give with a note of wonder about the women who used it and treasured it first... (1924-1932)
    Length: 10
    Blade width: 2 1/4 inches
    Weight: 108 grams
Markings: S Kirk & Son Inc, Sterling.
The markings on this piece reveal its age. You can read about dating details here: http://www.thestieffcompany.com/The_Stieff_Company/S._Kirk_%26_Son.html

The second server is crafted in the Rose pattern, a classic with an open center for engraving, should you wish, dating sometime around 1937. This server has a stainless blade, again, preferred. This is a great gift, as well, and can be monogrammed. (1932+)
    Length: 10 inches
    Blade width: 2 3/16 inches
    Weight: 121 grams
    Marking on blade: stainless
Marking on handle: Sterling; S Kirk & Son

The third server has a lot of utility in that it can double as a knife for a soft cake and can also serve those smaller pieces that you'd prefer, as perhaps a cheesecake, when a larger piece might feel too heavy. It's crafted in that same Repoussé pattern as the first, same age, same stainless blade. (1924-1932)
    Length: 10
    Blade width: 1 5/8 inches
    Weight: 87 grams
Marking on handle: S Kirk & Son Inc on the top of the handle and on the other side, Sterling.

The fourth small server is perfect for those charcuterie boards in serving brie and other cheeses or patés. It's crafted in that same Repoussé pattern as the first, same age, same stainless blade. (1932+)
    Length: 6.5 inches
    Blade width: 1 7/16 inches
    Weight: 49 grams
Marking on blade: S Kirk & Son on both the top of the handle and on the blade; and on the other side of the handle, Sterling.

    Butter Knife
This sweet all sterling butter knife is perfect for formal meals and for those charcuterie boards that we all love. Each is crafted in that same Repoussé pattern as the first server, same age. (1924-1932)
    Length: 5 1/4 inches
    Blade width: 3/4 inch
    Weight: 26 grams
Marking on handle: S Kirk & Son, Sterling.

Since the handles are solid silver, you don't have to worry about the durability of the finish. A simple polish removes any accumulating tarnish. (I prefer Hagerty Silversmith's wash with a tarnish preventative. Avoid using silver dips; they'll remove the lovely patina that gathers in the crevices to enhance the detail of these pieces.)

Free of dings and dents; no monograms unless stated in the descriptions.

Commensurate with age, the condition is very good to excellent.
