Salt cellars are such an elegant addition to any table setting, especially at the holidays...These sweet pieces are fashioned by the Frank Whiting Company, established in 1878 in North Attleboro, MA, where many of the early turn of the century craftsmen set up their shops. The owner before me told me that these have been in her family since her great-grandmother, who was born in 1887. They are easily 100 years old, perhaps older. They are so much more elegant than the photos show.
It's clear that these are leaded glass, but no need to worry about leaching of lead, for these, just as leaded crystal goblets, won't have the salt (or wine, as in the case of goblets) in them long enough to allow lead to leach. Just as a precaution, I soaked these in vinegar, as suggested, to make sure any residue on the glass is removed. However, with pieces this old, they were cleaned of that residue long, long ago. Hand wash.
Priced per piece with spoons. Reach out for mr if you're interested in buying four or all six.
Salt cellars make a great wedding gift or special piece for any silver lover, especially now as flavored salts grace many foodie tables. My favorite salt for these cellars is the flaky tasty salt made by Maldon.

If you’re shopping around, watch out for salt spoons made of silver plate. These are 925 silver, not silver plate. A word of caution...be sure that you can see the mark from other sellers who just use the word "silver".
Since the spoons are sterling silver, you don't have to worry about the finish wearing off with use. A simple polish removes any accumulating tarnish. (I prefer Hagerty Silversmith's wash with a tarnish preventative. Avoid using silver dips; they'll remove the lovely patina that gathers in the crevices to enhance the detail of these pieces.)
No monogram.
Commensurate with age, the condition is excellent.
