DetailsLovely German tongs or pastry scissors..Antique pastry / sandwich tongs. These are hardy and beautifully crafted with classic piercings and floral detail.
This fine server is in excellent estate condition with fine soft age acquired rich patina. Crafted of 800/1000 fine silver, it displays gorgeous, very detailed craftsmanship in fine silver chasing. There are no inscriptions or removals. It is hallmarked, as shown. I especially love the makeup of these with a
stabilizing upper portion that reveals the detail on the lower side with beautiful Art Nouveau touches of swirls, flowers, and cut-outs.
This origin of this sweet piece is unknown except for the German crown mark. It's gorgeous. These fine antique tongs will make a great addition to any collection of antiques or sterling silver, and a great conversation piece for those holiday meals!

Marked 800, the mark for German silver, and the German crown (obscured a bit)

No monogram. The spots you see on the silver are reflections from the lighting or my camera. This is a lovely piece.
Commensurate with age, the condition is very good to excellent.
A word of caution...some sellers advertise pieces as "silver" when they contain no sterling. Be sure that you can see the mark.
Since it's solid 800 silver, the standard for European silver, you don't have to worry about the finish wearing off with use. A simple polish removes any accumulating tarnish. (I prefer Hagerty Silversmith's wash with a tarnish preventative. Avoid using silver dips; they'll remove the lovely patina that gathers in the crevices to enhance the detail of these pieces.)
