These are so shiny that it’s impossible to not catch reflections from the lighting above.

Sweet individual salt cellars for your dinner party reflective of the early 20th century Empire Period, these are made from sterling silver. These classic pieces are fashioned by the Whiting Company. The Whiting name is venerable. The company began in 1840 as Tifft and Whiting, becoming the Whiting Company in 1866, continuing until 1926 when it was purchased by Gorham. You can tell its age by the hallmarks on the bottom of each sweet vessel, clearly putting these as made in 1924.

You can see Whiting hallmarks here: https://www.925-1000.com/Whiting_Date_Code.html

    Lovely. Priced per piece.

Six of these easily serve 12. If you'd like a spoon, I have several on my site. Just search for salt spoons.

Salt cellars make a great wedding gift or special piece for any silver lover, especially now as flavored salts grace many foodie tables. My favorite salt for these cellars is the flaky tasty salt made by Maldon. https://www.amazon.com/Maldon-Sea-Salt-Flakes-ounce/dp/B00017028M

    Length: 3 1/4 inches
    Width: 2 1/16 inches
    Height: 3/4 inch
    Weight: 21 grams silver each
    Material: sterling silver
Markings: Sterling; the classic Whiting mark of a lion standing on an encircled W; and the L indicating the date.

If you’re shopping around, watch out for salt cellars made of silver plate. These are 925 silver, not silver plate. Silver plate will not stand up to the salts and will ruin quickly...Be sure that you can see the mark.

Since these are sterling silver, you don't have to worry about the finish wearing off with use. A simple polish removes any accumulating tarnish. (I prefer Hagerty Silversmith's wash with a tarnish preventative. Avoid using silver dips; they'll remove the lovely patina that gathers in the crevices to enhance the detail of these pieces.)

    No monogram.

Commensurate with age, the condition is good.
