I had the opportunity to see Holland with my daughter years ago, but I will never forget the charm of the windmills that we toured. Massive stones were moved by the wind to grind grain, and for Vermeer, pigments for paint. As the mark to too obscure to read, I'll take a guess that these are dutch by the design, The Dutch, Germans and Italians made beautiful sterling pieces a century ago, and these are a diminutive sweet example.

Very sturdy and unusually heavy for its size.

I use pieces like this one for serving little things: pickles, nuts, sugar cubes, petit fours, sushi, other appetizers, that sort of thing...And when I use pieces like this, it's always to the delight of my guests who have usually never seen anything like them.

I also love to give them away. These sweet servers make great wedding gifts or special pieces for any silver lover, I'm fond of giving pieces like these to friends who are moving to a new home q...a lovely server like this one on cheese boards or hors d'oeuvre platters as welcome home gifts or hostess gifts.

    The server: 4.75” x 1.75”
Material: 800 silver (the European standard for sterling)
    Markings: 800
    Weight: 36 grams

This server is 800 silver, not silver plate. A word of caution...some sellers advertise silver when they are selling silver plate. Be sure that you can see the mark.

Since it's solid 800 silver, you don't have to worry about the finish wearing off with use. A simple polish removes any accumulating tarnish. (I prefer Hagerty Silversmith's wash with a tarnish preventative. Avoid using silver dips; they'll remove the lovely patina that gathers in the crevices to enhance the detail of these pieces.)

    No monogram.

Commensurate with age, the condition is excellent.
