DetailsVermeil is sterling silver coated with 14 karat gold. It's a long lasting, beautiful finish that seems to be harder and harder to find.
This rose gold vermeil opal heart hangs at an angle. and drapes beautifully, having a nice heft. The lab opals are inset and encased in the vermeil, giving them a protective wrapping that is just lovely. Do you have a special even to commemorate? This piece is perfect!

Gold filled items are legally required to have a heavier coating of 14K gold, 5% or 1/20 gold by weight, typically bonded over another material, in our case jeweler's brass, which is 90% copper and 10% zinc, both safe metals. Gold filled items stand the test of time; gold plated items will not endure. I have gold filled filigreed hoops from my teens that my daughters and I still wear!
