DetailsA unique large 800 silver-framed hand-carved antique carnelian shell cameo pendant or brooch. I choose my cameos by the faces, and this one is especially lovely. Look at the beautiful details on the carvings of the hair. Notice the carefully beaded marcasite-studded edge...This is a lovely piece, likely Italian made.

The cameo: 1 1/2" x 1 1/4', marked 800
The chain: What do you think? The frame is made of silver, but it has tarnished to a golden color. I have not polished it, but will do so, if you'd like. If polished, go with the silver chain. If you like the current patina, consider a gold-filled chain.
Sterling silver or gold filled flat cable, highly reflective, Italian-made. You pick the length. The length shown on the mannequin is 22 inches.
*As a point of information, always seek gold filled jewelry over gold plated pieces. Gold filled items are legally required to have a heavier coating of 14K gold, 5% or 1/20 gold by weight, typically bonded over another material, in our case jeweler's brass, which is 90% copper and 10% zinc, both safe metals. Gold filled items stand the test of time; gold plated items will not endure.
All handcrafted jewelry carries a firm guarantee; in fact, pearls will be restrung by me in the unlikely case that they need that care. You need only pay the postage.
