DetailsI will always love Gorham Buttercup Silver as it was my mom’s wedding pattern. I was pretty excited, though, when I discovered that they made these decorative, sizable berry spoon. They have such a nice hefty and gives generous portions. I don’t just use these for berries!
The serving spoons: 8 3/4” long, 2 15/18” wide, gold washed, 89 grams
Markings: classic Gorham symbols, sterling, 1870-1895
One has a gold washed on the bowl. Pick your preference.
The baby spoon: 4 1/2” long, 1 1/4” wide, 25 grams
Markings: Gorham, sterling
Since it’s solid sterling silver, you don't have to worry about the finish wearing off with use. A simple polish removes any accumulating tarnish. (I prefer Hagerty Silversmith's wash with a tarnish preventative. Avoid using silver dips; they'll remove the lovely patina that gathers in the crevices to enhance the detail of these pieces.)
No monograms. These have clear, crisp detail, with no monograms, removals, repairs or alterations.
Commensurate with age, the condition is very good to excellent.

The Buttercup baby spoon is exquisite. I purchased it for myself in honor of my grandmother who passed away last week. She had this Buttercup patterned silverware. Every Sunday after church she would host the whole family for lunch. And at every single one of the lunches we used her silver. I plan on stirring my tea every morning with it. And hopefully feeding all my babies and future grand babies with this spoon. Thank you for helping me find the perfect way to remember my beloved grandmother everyday. It is priceless to me.
