Just lovely. A tea strainer that hails from Italy. Crafted by the Bruno Barlacchi company sometime in the 1930s, this sweet strainer is made from 800 silver, the European standard for sterling.

This tea strainer can be used to strain a pot with tea leaves within it, or it can be used when making individual cups of tea, as the leaves will stay nicely within the rounded bowl as the flavored hot water strains through the perforations.

Dimensions: 4 1/2 long; bowl measures 2.5 inches, rim to rim, with a depth to the bowl 3/4 inch.
    Weight: 30 grams
Markings: 800; then within the oval you can see a star, 283, and FI for Firenze, the city in which Barlacchi crafted this piece.

Since it's solid 800 silver, you don't have to worry about the finish wearing off with use. A simple polish removes any accumulating tarnish. (I prefer Hagerty Silversmith's wash with a tarnish preventative. Avoid using silver dips; they'll remove the lovely patina that gathers in the crevices to enhance the detail of these pieces.)
